The Captain DS1 0807 HD is the most compact winch in the Captain HD lineup and every bit as uncompromising as its larger siblings. 316 stainless steel and aluminum alloy construction, SS2205 duplex stainless U-frame with increased thickness, fully welded corners, upgraded shafts, and an optimized drum all deliver HD-grade performance on vessels from 18 to 21 feet. The optional Fast Fall System and wireless control are included as standard.

What Makes the HD Different

SS2205 Duplex U-Frame

U-frame material thickness has been increased and upgraded to SS2205 duplex stainless, a higher-grade alloy delivering superior strength and durability over standard 316 SS.

Welded Frame Corners

All frame corners are fully welded for maximum structural rigidity, eliminating flex points and providing increased resistance to stress under heavy load.

SS2205 Upgraded Shafts

Shafts are now manufactured from SS2205 for higher tensile strength and dramatically improved corrosion resistance compared to standard shaft materials.

Optimized Drum Geometry

Drum diameter has been reduced while increasing drum length to lower no-tie-off torque load, reducing stress on the motor and drivetrain during deployment and retrieval.

Widened Bolt Pattern

The bolt pattern has been widened to distribute mounting loads more evenly, improving deck stability and providing additional structural support under dynamic conditions.

Wireless Control Box + 2 Fobs

Full wireless control is included as standard on HD models, not an add-on. The control box and two key fobs are ready to use straight out of the box.

Patented Fast Fall System

The optional electronic Fast Fall System doubles anchor deployment speed with a simple 2-second press of the lower button. The controller boosts voltage to double the motor speed, deploying twice as fast as retrieval. When time matters, no other winch in its class responds faster.

316 SS + Aluminum Alloy Construction, IP68 Rated

The DS1 features a 316 stainless steel spool and base plate paired with an aluminum alloy gearbox and motor body, balancing corrosion resistance with reduced weight for compact vessel installations. Patented internal condensation mitigation protects internal electronics from moisture over time. IP68-rated waterproofing and an emergency drive key release ensure reliable operation even in the event of power loss or electrical failure.
